I personally would not waste a ton of money on a snowbound car that's been sitting unused to 10 years. When I say waste, I mean on a high-quality paint job. All it takes is one rock to chip it...

Likely, the tires will all need replacing. As will all the fluids, plus if there's corrosion in any fluid lines you have to fix that. Likely the exhaust is all rusted out too.

If you're going to take it to the track, etc, I would concentrate on the mechanical upkeep and either take the car in it's most likely bad condition paint or get a more utilitarian paint job.

And please understand, we've seen too many news stories where people die taking the MR2 in a turn way too fast, or showing off. Regardless of what you tell us your background is, we don't know you from adam. I'm sure you'll agree drifting isn't easy. It's even harder in a midengine. Nothing like the balls to the wall FR layout. If you are as experienced as you claim, you realize how dangerous at the limit driving is. Can you blame us from warning anyone about to do it?

However, if it's a free car, I would at least drive out there. If you don't like it, at least you can take it as a free mini-vacation roadtrip. Can they snap any pics? Might help you judge if its worth the effort.
