does it sound like its getting fire to the pistons? I did a engine swap and the timing gave me a fit. If you have someone there w/ you tell them to turn the car over and you can loosen the bolt on the distributor and turn it either way to see if you hear any firing. I know if you have the timing close on the timing belt side it will work. At first all my car did was turn over, then I moved the belt one tooth at a time. If is sounded more dead one way I would go back to my original starting point and go the other direction.
