Great story and welcome to the board. As far as the price, I just saw a MKI that didn't look nearly as nice go for $16,000 on ebay. It had fewer miles, but you could actually see some slight rust in some of the pics!
EDIT: that price sounded rediculous, so I looked it up --- it went for $18,000! (Item number: 270246951216). So you apparently stole yours
