Thats quite all right even mechanics have those moments. I took my coil wire off of the distributor when I replaced the axles, that way the car wouldnt start up for any odd reason while I was under the car. I spent an entire day trying to figure out why I wasnt getting spark, the way I layed the wire down it almost looked like it was still connected!

Dont let it discourage you, this is simply how you learn with nobody to teach you, trail and error!
