Usually, just in front of the throttle body. Or mounted to the intake manifold.
Either way you want the temp sensor after the intercooler so you can tune for the engine a/f ratio's correctly. And if the I/C becomes too heat soaked or the temp starts rising the ECU will see this and if tuned for it will alter the fuel as necessary.
