As I understand it, the mr2 ecu, when faced with an o2 sensor issue, automatically starts running rich (heh, richer than normal if thats possible) as a safety feature. It makes sense of course, to default to safe mode if something happened like that.
I'm pretty sure thats the behavior, but now that I'm trying to locate where I read that I'm not able to find it. Maybe I'm smoking the crack rock.
