Aye Angus me poor, poor old Laddy . . . What can we do wee yee?
Yeev got "Tired window Syndrome". What color would you like yer casket in?
O.K. joking aside (get some Nukes New Zealand and get respect). No, no, stop kidding . .
O.K. mrtwosrus.com has a plastic replacement cogs for about 25 bucks each. On my two Mk I's I've replaced the cogs on three out of 4 doors. Odds approach certainty that you need them now, or will in the near future.
You can lube the track at the bottom of the window, and lube the window cranking mechanism. But if you dissassemble the window crank parts, (its a bitch) you might as well replace the cog while you are there.
Check for corroded electical contacts in the window relay boxes mounted on either door, and where the switch plugs in too. Also PW switches get "tired and old". You might try finding a fresher set a junkyard, or online auction. I think they are like many aw11 parts from the dealer RIDICULOUSLY expensive and $350 US for the driver's side. I paid $75 bucks for an almost new set of switches, one of my best parts buys ever. I hoard them like they are gold.
Oh, by the way MKI PW's are slow windows compared to almost any other PW on any other car. Could be they used small motors to keep the weight down.
Really, I'm jealous of you living down under: you have cannibals living in your jungles. . . .sweet!
