i'm turning my car into a street legal track car; got the A/C system out except for the cooling unit.

would i lose my defrost function if i remove the cooling unit? i guess what i'm asking is if the cooling unit is somehow tied into the ducting that channels air into the car being blown by the fan? i'd like to keep the ability to defrost the inside of my windshield when it all misted up.

if not, tips on removing the cooling unit would be much appreciated; thanks for any input.
