Did you set the crank to TDC then put the distributor in with the rotor pointing on #1 pin? If that is all right, then I guess next step is to chase the vac leak. You shouldn't have a problem chasing this since you know what you have taken out when you pull your whole throttle body and cleaned it out. But with the wrong dizzy timing it would sound almost like having a vac leak when the car is running.
