the gumming is probably because you got a s***load of carbon build up in there (which is normal) and then the gas started pooling up in there (being the cold start injector is right there) making a sticky carboney volatile mix
You could have some issues with the valves being F*** right up, once you get er running it's probably be a good idea to get a compression test and see where you're at.
