my original idea was to hear the 4agze run while it was in the car, then pull it and totally rebuild it anyways. ground up rebuild has always been the idea... and I'm starting to rethink my plan of needing to hear it run while its in the mr2, and I'm now thinking it would just be a good idea to pull it and begin the planned rebuild before I cause any serious damage to it while "just trying to hear it run" ya know? the rebuild and the machine shop is gonna cost enough as it is, why add more to it with serious damage? what do you guys think? should I just quit with the playing around and pull it like I intended, and then begin the rebuild.....or is it worth it to continue playing around just to hear it run, when I know it already spins?
oh and something I found worried me, and I asked a friend about it... Unhooking the air intake hose from the supercharger, I found a nice pile of ashy white powder, which my buddy assured me was just "dried up coolant" and its normal for a 4ag motor thats been sitting... now really, I'd like to believe that, but I'm troubled by it, because it kinda looks like someone ashed a cigar in my intake, and I can't imagine thats normal....
