Master Cylinder

I just read some POTENTIAL awesome advice! Removing the clutch master cylinder from a junkyard car ( BTW- it many NOT have to be from another MR2). This is a great way for a newbie to get some hands on experience without damaging a functional car.

About the junkyard master cylinder.... The MR2 MK1's are now 20+ years old. Why buy a wearable item when a new replacement is about $60 or so? Now if the part was a simple bracket, that would be a world of difference.

Since we are only talking about the clutch cylinder, a junkyard part might be acceptable.

Now for all the Newbies:

The most important consideration is SAFETY!!!!!!

NEVER NEVER use a floor jack to support a vehicle, they are only for raising and lowering a vehicle, use some decent jackstands. Use some common sense, proper clothing, and if working by yourself, try to have someone check on you occasionally and keep a telephone within arm's reach.
