Get some scrap metal strips . . . and make new Radiator mounts in back of the originals. Then move the radiator back an inch or two. This should give you room to put in the IC radiator. Also, most MKI's AC is non-working, so you can scrap the AC condensor piece while you're in there. Removing the AC condensor would also give you more room to play with.
The engine bay is too hot for the IC radiator, remember that's why you were considering putting it in the rear trunk.
I believe you are making a really good move with the Water to air IC cooler. I wish I had went that way instead of the 2 stage water alcohol injection system that I have. Its like a really beautiful, young girlfriend . . .. too high maintenance for me.
