if the cables bad, the housing was bad a LONG time ago. they need to be replaced together.

thats a very ghetto fix that should be avoided unless you absolutely cant manage to scrounge up the 80 bucks for the toyota cable.. at which point you should start saving for that cable.

the cable housings arent nearly as durable as the steel cables.. its like doing an oil change but reusing your filter.
