Problems with my 5sgte build and my fixes
Hey all, just wanted to start a thread on my build and I figured I'd start with the frustrating part.. Everyone posts the glory... but here are the problems I've had and my solutions.. for most there are several ways to handle each i just chose the easiest for the parts we had around the garage
Of course I will post pictures but here is the basic set up:
94 5s block .
3s head turbo exhaust ext.
5s crank machined to accept 3s forged rods
.020 over bore 5s jp pistons
Problems encountered so far.
Oil cooler from 3s will not fit block
Used 5 s oil cooler and adapted to 3s water lines.. Used stanless braded high templines with additional heat shielding for the HFH..
Oil filter will not clear heat shield
Ceramic paint down pipe and remove part of heat shield.
Eventually will move oil filter once I get a kit
Turbo oil feed Inlet not on 5s block..
Going to T off oil pressure sender port and use copper fittings to attach to cut turbo hard line with flange compresoin fittings .
May incorperate off the moved oil filter solution later on.
Must use 5s pressure plate and clutch ...since the 5 s flywheel must be used with the 5s crank. and the bolt pattern is differnet than my 3sgte flywheel (unless you go after market )
Just wanted to throw that in .
Oil pump would bind under proper tourque
Ordered a new one from a different company.. hopefully it was just a bad one

A million freaking trips out for little odds and ends...
Will have it in the car next weekend..
