Okay, inspiration struck, so I went outside and confirmed that the distributor is indeed keyed, and can only be installed one way. I did, however, crank it over, and it sputtered a bit for a second before shutting off. I'm thinking it may be flooding the engine with fuel for whatever reason.

I'm using a map sensor off a 1990-93 Celica GT/GTS (5sfe). Any potential issues there?
