I forget what engine it was, but I remember telling one guy to use exactly that spot for his turbo build as well....I think it could have been a 5S.
I say use it.
From what I figure, Toyota probably used that for something else in earlier S-series engines, not just for the machining procedures. I should google a bunch of S-series engines pictures....
