i used to knock the srt-4 platform too a few years back when i owned my 1993 300zx...
i can see why some guys knock on the car because they havent researched the car or even driven the car so they just call it a neon because it looks similar, even though i honestly like the look of the srt-4, i think it looks agressive and they never fail to surprise anyone when they race people that just knock on it and say its a POS neon.

i personally would like to go with a stroked 3sgte MR2 if i can get that motor fully built to handle excessive amounts of power without breaking down on me. i had the srt-4 swap idea because i know that motor well, on top of already owning the car and having the motor i can build sitting in my garage. the srt-4 motor all completely stock internally can handle 450whp with a bolt on turbo kit and simple tune which costs about 5k to do. if i stroke that motor im looking at a 2.6L turbo motor capable of 1400whp that i know will not have any problem handling 600whp to daily drive. but i also understand that the fab work etc. will cost sooooo much money aswell and make the project become very expensive.
as long as i can fully build and stroke the 3sgte motor and have it able to handle 600whp no problem and can be driven daily then ill strongly consider that project and stick with a toyota drivetrain. i just dont want to have to spend thousands of dollars building a motor that can turn out weak, with that being said im not saying the 3sgte motor is weak im just saying ill need to research and make sure this motor can achieve my goals without doubt and can hold up to the same abuse the srt-4 platform i was using had.
