you cant pull those races off man.. i think you mis understood the cut thing. you're not trying to cut grooves for the puller. you're straight up cutting the thing off! you only cut it like 9/10th's of the way just as a safety precaution to not nick the... tapered shaft which the bearing rides on, on the hub :|
after you cut it nearly in half, you take a screw driver and stuff it in the cut and twist. the bearing pops off (sometimes with force, be careful).
i spent two hours trying to use the press and splitters to pull races before the other guys laughed at me and handed me a grinder. took 2 minutes. as far as im concerned, theres no other way to remove those things in a reasonable fashion.
