Torque will definitely make it feel faster off the line. The problem with the 5SFE is that it doesn't hold its torque after it peaks, so it loses out on horsepower.
My 1MZ feels fast, but it's just quick like a 5SFE in torque production. A 3.0L 5SFE with two cylinder heads, two torque peaks, and more power.
