I recently purchased another MR2 where the majority of the vacuum lines were capped off so I decided to do some playing. I had already traced most of the vacuum lines and they are all set (except one... the VTV is missing). I unplugged the one from teh EGR system to the temperature sensor (the blue topped one) and Walla! It no longer revs up and down. I'll take a picture later to show what I have done. It's not a permanent fix but it certainly is exciting.
