I've done this to an old chev T350 box but not an automatic mr2 box it has advantages but it sucks to drive around it breaks loose on changeup and has no engine braking, the auto box also weighs too much imo and if you keep blowing on the line calm down your launches to be more consistant. No point doing 0.2 seconds better but only being able to do it a few times before blowing.
Best suggestion is..............to get a better clutch, an unsprung one of you do a lot of launching. My friend had the same issue, he spent $600 on a clutch and the problem went away rather than spending $200 every week.
