I'm guessing that the shifter base bushing are the little rubber bushings that hold the shifter assembly in place. take em off and install the brass ones.
Yup! I installed that stuff on my MK1. The shifter cable bushings should come with a piece of sandpaper, use that to clean the pins and such. The bushings are a great cheap mod, for my mk1 the shifting felt awesome. Just make sure not to twist the cables.
