there's a few ways you can look at it.
*If you do all the routine repairs to a car, you ultimately are constantly rebuilding the engine, performance will eventually drop(not too bad if you keep up with it though), and you might need to rebuild the engine. but it will still run.
*Run the engine and if something breaks that you don't want to deal with/thrown rod, blown head gasket, then you can swap a street eager new engine in, and start fresh.
but to answer your initial question, when I was looking for a 2, I found a few nearing 300k mi, and they had everything taken care of, it's just more likely to have something else go wrong if you don't know what to watch out for, pretty much everything needs replacing routinely, if you keep up with it, I'm sure you could nail 500k mi+.
