Quick Summary: i'm in school and don't have time to mess with it due to my heavy work load. i bought it knowing it had engine troubles. i've gotten it to run a couple times, but the idle quality is spotty and unpredictable; sometimes smooth, sometimes rough, sometimes it refuses to even crank. dad had it towed to a shop up the road so they could take a peek. i didn't get the whole story from dad, since he called me at 8:30am just before i left for class, so i couldn't talk long. here's the gist: at some point in the MR2's life SOMEONE decided it would be a good idea to weld - in some way, shape, or form - the harmonic balancer in such as manner that our pal at the shop thinks the bottom end is likely toast from poor balance. he thinks it would AT LEAST need a reground crank, new bearings, etc. easiest and probably cheapest fix would be find ANY good 4age bottom end (or a 7afe bottom end and old supra injectors for those that aspire for the extra torque of 1.8 liters!) and straight swap the blocks. as much as i'd like to do this so i could resell this MR2 for WAYYY more than i have in it, i simply don't have the time to do such. thus, i'm selling it as it sits. if you've got some time on your hands and access to a good 4age block, i'd bet you could resell it for at least 1.5 grand off it, if not more. i still have yet to find a first-gen MR2 in such nice condition.
btw, did i mention the exterior is SUPER CLEAN considering it's 24 years old?? and did i mention that the interior is even CLEANER??

i'll try to shoot more pics soon, next time i go home...
