My question is, why shouldn't the ECU run the ignition? Once it cranks, fuel goes in, ignition sparks, it should keep running. All I plan on keeping plugged in is the ignitor and dizzy, I figure the ignition is a completely different system, and all the crap (injectors, maf, misc. sensors) is only there to control the fuel injection. So as long as the engine is getting fuel somehow it should run

, i hope. I work at a local shop and we have done similar things. I am just curious if anyone else has done anything like this.
I have everything ready... carbs on manifold w/ linkage, fuel pump installed on car and ran to fusible key on power, new header and exhaust with wideband sensor, and all the misc. bits and pieces. I guess I will just have to find out!
The whole plan was to not have to use expensive MSD parts. I considered using a Starlet dizzy but you have to either modify the head, the dizzy, or make a custom plate to adapt it, and you need to change the drive gear. Plus finding one of those is a challenge in itself!...If it doesn't work, I may just get one of these:
