Thanks for the offer to help! My buddy and I have it pretty much handled for now, but we might need an extra hand for some of the big stuff.
As for why the stripdown, I am starting the process of making it into a race car, as cliche as that sounds. I see the MR2 as a blank canvas to try a few innovations that I've been working out in my head. I'll be doing a 20v BT 6spd swap to start with, ITB's, welded-in roll cage, and redesigned cooling system structure. I'm going to incorporate a few things inspired by some other great mid-engine cars, and see if I can make them work...
I suppose I should be studying the rule book for both SCCA and NASA, to make sure that I will remain in a certain class that I can be competitive in, but even if that's not possible anymore with what I've done, I won't be investing TOO much money into it.
Shortly I'll be making a For Sale post with the stuff I pulled off that I will no longer need for what I am intending to use it for. Feel free to PM me if there is anything you are looking for, keeping in mind I don't really have any plastic trim pieces, either interior or exterior, because they were destroyed by the AZ sun.
