Well Howdee Mrs (&Mr)
Just noticed there are several Mark 1 Mr2 Supercharzed cars on the Club Website for sale (as you mentioned you were looking for a early mr2.)
Altho Supercharged models are justly more on the upkeep end, you've got a live in Mechanic that can do the major/serious wrenching for you. (You go girl!)
Not discounting the more reliable Normally Aspirated cars, you just might be more impressed with the additional "fun" of a pressurized engine and give hubby a run in his car if you choose to run a larger Supercharer pulley for increased boost.
