Toyota MR2 Message Board - View Single Post - OEM Shocks Struts Able to accept insert or require full assembly?

I have an 86 with 196k miles that OBVIOUSLY needs new shocks/struts. What I want to know is if it will accept the cheaper strut inserts in comparison to the pricey full assembly for the front and back. Also, do you think it's necessary to replace the springs as well at this point or can I get away with just the struts?

Newbie here that can do minimal repairs but both of my little bro's are mechanics. Don't get to see them for help until this weekend and need to know which parts to order TODAY
