They look amazingly identical, both series appear to share the same center to center measurement of the slider pins, same pin diameter, the emergency brake equipment are the same, the openings for the pads identicle.
What the hell is going on here?

this difference in diameter can be an upgrade for 85-86 MK1's. will result in better stopping power due to increased swept area.
