Exclamation HELPP! Need quick answers pls.

I posted a thread already before this one giving my intro but i just cant get the hang of this forum stuff. well if u havent read my other post, i hav a 92 MR2 which i recently bought. Im in need of help though. The car needed a few things to pass inspection, i already had the brake pads replaced and the rotors too. I had the car looked over by a mechanic and he told there were a few things that needed to be replaced: Inner tie rod ends, stabilizer links, and the control arm. But he also told me that to pass inspection i would have to worry about the tie rods more than anything. Im not really sure what these parts are, or how easy it would be to replace these myself to save a couple of pennies. If someone can show me sum piks, and maybe let me kno where i could find these parts for cheap would be a great help. Also i took the car to a different mechanic after i replaced the brakes because i was getting a little frustrated about the fact that my MR2 is non power steering but the wheel seems way stiffer than it should be. So i took it to see if there was anything wrong with the alignment, and they told me that it looks like something is wrong with the rack and something with the steering gear box, or something like that, i cant really remember the name. But they told me to be sure they had to take apart the rack to check it. I didnt have them do it because i just dont have the spare cash to be paying for all of that. So i guess what im asking for is if it would be a good idea to just replace the entire rack, or go with what the other mechanic said and just replace the inner tie rods. i found some prices for the rack, around 350-420. But then to get it installed would be even more. so if anyone knows if its worth doing it myself then pls let me know. I want to get this car running great, just like it should be. O and one more thing, if anyone knows how to install the e-brake cables, i need that too pls. Thnx to everyone who replies. I love this car but its just a load of stress not knowing where to start.
