Great

Another V8 RX-7 convert!

I knew I recognized that name from somewhere. I sold my LS6 powered FD (Cam, tune, 150 shot) to a guy from Prague, Czech Republic. Bought this MR2 for $700.00 to build into a racecar. Long story short I have $15k in it now and I did all the work myself. Of course this is a road race car so I have lots of money in weird things that help you turn and slow down as opposed to go faster.

Things I would recommend:
1) Lighten the car to the max. Mine is SERIOUSLY gutted and I'm down to 2250 lbs without me in it.
2) REALLY get the motor solidly mounted to the car. The front motor mount on my car had issues even just road racing. That sucker needs to be SOLID.
3) with 2300 lbs car dyno'd 240 rwhp and ran 12.1 @ 110. I am going back since I now have 266 rwhp and 275 wtq.
4) Again, reducing weight is a much easier way to go fast than adding power.
5) Get the Chromoly CV Shafts cages now.

I'm thinking my car is easily good for 11's right now (Gen3 motor and stock CT20B) and the only thing I would need for 10's is something like a 20g (50-60 more rwhp). There are probably 100 more lbs left to go in this car as well.

My .02 on building a drag car. These things hook like HELL with decent tires and light weight. Good luck!
