I recently bought my '2 with just over 220k on it, and was a bit iffy about the condition. Of course, being as old as they are, a lot of them have been messed with, ghetto rigged, etc.
Your best bet, if you are really serious about buying it, is to call your local toyota dealer and ask for them to do a full inspection on the car (takes about 2 hours, costs $90-$110, and is the same as the certified pre-owned inspection). They give you a full list of anything and everything that is wrong with it and may or may not need to be replaced. That's what I did, and im glad i did, so i dont have to wonder about what the problem is if i see a drop of oil on the ground, or if something makes a weird sound, or if the ac isnt working, etc etc.
