pull it out and shake it, LOL.

when it's running you may want to disconnect the hose at the PCV and see if you can feel vacuum on it.

it's a good idea to replace headbolts.... but I never have.... I've only seen one snap, and it was on a Saturn. I've had some I've retorqued 3 times myself on 4age's and never had a problem.
