Better to have a thicker HG i would think regardless.
I would go Cometic MLS with ARP studs. Just a good
excuse to do it and some other fun stuff if you aren't paying
for labor.

the stock bore size on a 3sgte is 86mm.
You can buy a cheap-o kit off ebay for 70 bucks or so and that is all that gaskets.
I would bite the bullet and spend 100 for a Cometic.
