I will try to answer this without turning it into a debate about aerodynamics.
You will find that the air supplied from the bottom of the car above the mufflers will always be the hottest. The car in the picture has the Berk exhaust with the twin mufflers which completely covers the lower trunk area. With the mass of this intercooler and the dual fans, you could not heat soak this car.
