OMG, I have that shift knob! Pulled it out of a totaled WRX at a yard for $10. Did you restitch that by hand, as the holes for the stitches are already punched? I WANT mine to have red stitching . . .
Also, manufacturers like to use as many interchangeable parts as possible across their entire vehicle lineup. You might look at similar vintage Corolla, Celica, or Camry belts. They should bolt right in, or require tiny modifications, and they should all have the same buckling mechanism (same metal tab, I can't think what they're called). I just installed a steering column combination switch out of a Celica in my 2. Now I have a switch for my rear windshield washer/wiper! LOL.
Great writeup so far, and welcome!
