Over the weekend I adjusted the idle valve and throttle cable so the car idles without stalling. I've got it down to about 1200rpm but will need to fine tune slightly to try and make it 900rpm, its doable its just very touchy as you go too low and it stalls!
I have also calibrated a few guages but just need to do the speedo and tacho now. Speedo I will need to wait till the exhaust is done as I need a stretch of 4km to calibrate it correctly and currently the car is way to loud to drive even at 3am! Tacho I played with on the weekend but I can't seem to get it to read the right signal... might be a MOTEC thing I need to look at, hmmmm.
Below is a photo of the 3" mid section of my exhaust which was originally done by InTune Performance. I'm actually thinking about taking out the custom muffler that they designed and fitted as it seems to be too restrictive for the car after about 5000rpm. The car stutters and lurches as its climbing up the revs and after looking at what the internal structure of the muffler is makes me think its definately not the right design for this motor.
I bolted my 2.5" mid section exhaust piece on which has a cat installed and the motor runs smoothish but is WAY louder! I'm thinking the BEAMS really doesnt like small pipes, it seems the more smaller the pipe the louder the sound. Anyone else had this issue with their motors? So this custom muffler I shall replace with a piece of 3" pipe and a CAT instead....
And see how we go then!
