Well the 2zzge, I think is the perfect motor for that car for everyday driving. You'll still net around 30 mpg or about 10 kilometers per liter and it'll be a blast to drive.
I'm not too sure about the out-of-state transmissions. I'd still suggest getting the Celica 6-speed transmissions as I'm not 100% on the gear ratios and that is what'll bite you in the butt in the end. If the 6-speed euro transmission bolts up to the 2zzge and has good gear ratios, you should be fine.
