...cool.
I've got a relatively large SARD "barrel" filter on mine. A few of us over on the BEAMS section are thinking about ducting or housing various filters to separate them from the heat from the engine bay (amongst other reasons). I've seen a pic of an ali. plate installed at the engineers panel to separate the "zones" but never found out who'd done it and where they'd mounted it on. Looked a very good idea and may help rain water from getting to the filter between the service panel / engine cover gap. I think the difficult part is the template -probably not more than 10 bucks worth of materials + something for shaping it -if you can't blag it for free that is. I never realised K&N did one -any chance you've got any links I can have a look at? Richard |

back in the days
some time ago i had purchased a set of side scoops but deemed them almost non productive...
![]() these are an ebay knock off but i will have to say they were well made and fit great. they just did didn't have much of a "scoop" to them. i set off to make my own set; just to drop the idea b/c i decided to go a different way w/ the car, the newer scoops (that will not be pictured) are huge in comparison to these yet almost unnoticeable to the disruption of body lines on the car. this is what i started to make, it was my first time "custom" making fiberglass parts so its a bit rough ![]() some of the pics before i scrapped the project are a bit more "completed" but no where near done enough to put on my car. ![]() i have ton more pics here if you are at all interested, the password for the page will be "scoop" until i forget about it or this page gets archived |

wow, nice job, i was just looking to make something that was very inexpensive to make, and also easy to make, so that people can use them for drag/track/ or street if it doesn't look all stream line to the car then i could try to make it easy to remove also. it's raining like crazy here, and i've been looking for a second job for more income so i don't know when i can fab my own verision of the scoop but maybe towards the end of the month i will make something and post it and see what people think. I need to make something when i purchase new side skirts, passanger side skirt is broken in half and i think it looks very tacky, but with no funds i have to deal with it.

thanks man i think i had maybe 10.00 into that one by the time i scrapped it.... but if you don't already have resin, mat, hardener and the other tools necessary it will be a bit more on the costly side.
and a tip if you use foam like i did to mold on top of when your done shaping it cover it in masking tape like i did my side vent, it was a major pita to remove it from the foam b/c the resin set into all the little pockets.... i don't know why i didn't think of that before hand. joe |

I guess this is as good a thread as any to ask, when I get my car back today (crosses fingers) I want to remove the middle insert of the side vent like I see a lot of people do on here--Is that hard to do?, is there more involved then just removing it?, and does it leave a nasty looking hole or slit when it's gone? I guess more importantly, is it even recommended?
You know, I see it all ready; my love for this car will make a mechanic out of me yet. Soon I’ll get to the point of not trusting any other mechanic to work on my baby. This guy changing my hose has had it since Wednesday, and he says maybe today he’ll be done. It’s a water hose! I can’t sleep at night thinking about my 2T. I think I’m obsessed. ![]() |

^ correct its easily cut out but you are left with 2 "v" shaped groves that will need to be glassed over and repainted.
