On the Toms MR2 they designed the Toms scoop to connect to their induction box for the N/A to act as a ram air effect, but in order for it to work you need the toms air box which is as rare as rocking horse poo and i've only seen a couple of photos of them on a few cars in the UK, they only produced the left hand side (near side, passenger side on a jdm/ RHD mr2)
the offside toms scoop is just a replica and they never produced it,

they never ment them to aid in any type of cooling except for ram air.

I'm not sure about the border or du-luck ones,
On my toms i made a fiber glass bottom for it that used te factory mounting holes to help seal it then cut a hole in it for soem intake tubing and threw a K & N in there.. ( a little tight) so wammo 10 dollar toms air box

Also quick fiberglass tip .. use fleese cloth instead of fiberglass cloth when strenth is not a concern or even as a first layeer on odd shapes with strength is concerned. It is incredably easy to keep in place and can be held taught to span gaps
