Seeing as there isn't a 550 rom tune available (for as long as the SB kit and Rom tune have coexisted)...that's be kinda hard. Even still, IIRC ATS is not a distributor for KO anymore (although they do sell the exhaust but it's drop shipped from another vendor).

We can do a 550 ROM tune for the SB46 now...if you get the car to us.

We'll need three SB46 owners to do that before we have a mail order ROM tune available. Until then, I suggest people get our TD06 kit. It has very comparable performance and uses better materials/manufacturing techniques, and the turbocharger design is a decade more modern than Garrett's T3/T4.

Most importantly, it's available in a ROM tune/Turbo Kit/Fuel system bundle that includes everything needed but an exhaust, ic and boost controller to make 300-350 WHP on a stock motor. You save almost $450 buying the bundle, vs. buying an SB46 and piecing it all together separately, even if there WAS a 550 ROM tune available.

Best regards,

Ken

well i like the fact that the SB46 has quicker spool, and has a ceramic coated downpipe with the wasgate plumbed back into the exhaust. how much extra would it be to have the downpipe for the td06/5 kit coated and dump pipe plumped back in?

Actually, the SB46 has only exhibited great spool on ONE 2.0L MR2. If you look at all the dynos posted for it in the community, it typically doesn't get to 200RWTQ until after 4K RPM, where the TD06 typically reaches 200 RWTQ somewhere between 3400 and 3700 RPM, depending on the setup.

KO HAS TO coat the down pipe, because it's made from MIG welded mild steel, and would rust out without the coating. We use TIG welded 304 stainless steel, so corrosion is not an issue.

It's an extra $100 to reroute the dump pipe back to down pipe, and we incorporate a braided SS flex section.

Let me know if you want a price to coat the down pipe/dump tube and I'll get a quote from Aaron.

Best regards,

Ken

I'll get a quote from Aaron. It will have to be tomorrow, since the shop is closed for the day. (it's after 7pm there)

Ok, it would be $85 to coat the down pipe with integrated dump tube.

Thanks,

Ken

KBlake, any update on this. Did you ever get your three SB46/550 cars for your mail order rom? I'm almost done with my car and I was considering a rom.

Well, one update is that I stopped doing "Daddy Daycare", so I had to give up my hobby job at ATS and go back to work full time.

Oddly enough, all of the MR2s in the Dallas/Fort Worth area have ATS turbo kits on them, so no, they have not tuned 3 SB equipped cars on their dyno...in fact, AFAIK, they haven't tuned ONE.

Maybe KO will buy all of the Techtom equipment needed, and a dyno, and start supporting their turbo kit customers. In the meantime, you could always sell that SB kit and buy an ATS turbo kit/550 ROM tune bundle!
