If you use the 5s block instead of the 3s, the block is cast in the larger cyl diameter. Therefore just a clean-up is usually needed leaving more material in the cyl. walls.

Reading your specs again, it sounds like you are asking to destroke the 2.2 crank to the 3s thow. Not sure why you would do this as opposed to using the 3s crank.

Using a 5S crank in a 3S block gives you more displacement...you'll need to have to the crank machined down to accept the 3S rods however, but still more displacement over running a 3S crank.

True, but "destroke" means to reduce the stroke and it could be done if you machined the crank to reduce the stroke and the rod journal diameters. I think he meant "turn" the rod journals, not "destroke". Symantics at this point.

I have a pretty good idea where he read it. One of our competitors calls it "destroking." I just laughed and didn't bother to correct him, now I can tell who is calling me after they have spoken to this competitor because they ask for a "destroked" crank. hehe. What I am sure he means is that he wants the journals turned down so he can use a 3S sized rod.

BTW as of early last year all of our 3S strokers are built with .020 (aka .5mm) oversized pistons. We also do not use CP pistons. We worked with Wiseco to design our own piston for our strokers.
