Turbocharger Core Question

I thought I once read that ceramic JDM turbos were not eligible for the core refund. However, I don't see it in your "core notes". Does my memory serve me correctly?

They can't be sent in after receiving an ATS core for a core refund, however you can send the ceramic CT26 in to be upgraded to CT27 spec. It will still have the ceramic turbine wheel, unless you pay extra for a new steel one.

Thanks Ken, do you know the costs of an upgrade , steel wheel and the approximate turn-around time?

No problem. The CT27 upgrade price is the standard price on the website, unless you have them replace the ceramic wheel with a steel one, which is extra. I don't remember the exact price for a new turbine wheel, but $150 comes to mind. Turn time was typically 30 days or less when I worked there. Contact ATSAaron for a current estimate.

Are you able to rebuild CT20b's? I didn't know that ceramic turbos were rebuildable - I thought the lock nut would crack when being taken off

Sorry, out of parts to rebuild CT20's. No foreseeable source either.

If you want a ceramic CT27 and you send a ceramic JDM core that is no problem. If you want a steel CT27 and send in a ceramic core we're going to ding you for $100 extra.

BTW I don't recommend ceramic for above 16 psi boost. They break. Below that you've got a good chance of survival.
