You are upset with me because you didn't join the group buy that was posted on the other site? You are a member of the other site (you have to be to see anything there). I don't want to get wrapped up in the politics of the two boards. ATS Racing Group Buys are open to MR2 OWNERS, I don't car what site you are or are not a member of.

OK well then you have a reason to hate me. Haha.

PM me if you are interested in the group buy. The short version is that it is ATS Rom Tunes for $599 shipped including dual mapped ecus. 550cc tuning is still available for TD06's for $100 extra.

I'll open it back up for this board.

I'm interested as well. I have a few questions I was going to PM you but I'll just ask here in case it answers someone else's questions too.

In case it matters, my setup is: USDM 95T, original engine with all maintenance up-to-date, APEXi intake, Spearco IC, CT20b, OEM primary cat, KO exhaust, Blitz SBC i-D boost controller. Since I have the OEM primary cat, I put my wideband O2 sensor just before the cat, for accurate A/F readings.


* Is the ROM tune the same for the 95's versus the 93's, since I presume the OEM ECU is different from 93 - 95 (?). In other words, if Toyota made various improvements to the US ECU after 93, I don't want to lose those (I have a 95).

* I'm in Texas and I'd like to have you guys tune my car at your shop. I know this is included in the normal non-group-buy price, but since this is a GB, is this tuning included in the GB price? And if so, how far out (months, weeks, etc) are you scheduling right now?

* My main reason for wanting the ROM tune is to fix the rich A/F ratio under boost (mine is around 10.7:1 at 12+ psi), and maybe advance the timing since we have 93 octane. But otherwise I still want a fairly conservative tune, with the stock fuel cut at ~17.5 psi, stock rev limiter.. (I want to be able to drive my MR2 on the road course for a 25-minute session and not have to worry about ping, etc). Is this kind of "conservative" tune possible?

No, I am NOT a member of mr2oc, I'm only here and the Ontario Club site. If you are a sponsor HERE, then please treat us EQUALLY. Take a page from EMS POWERED style and post on BOTH sites.

FAQ:

Who is ATS Racing? We are the country's only full service MR2 specialist. We are a repair shop, modification shop, manufacturer, and retailer of exclusive MR2 items like sport turbos, turbo kits, and ECU's. We also are a complete tuning shop with a Dynojet 248C.

What is a ROM TUNE? If you come from the domestic world it is usually called "chipping" the ECU. The Toyota ECU is fairly complicated with the CPU and rom (read only memory) being housing in one unavailable chip. Techtom however designed a solution several years ago called a daughterboard. This allows us to place the ROM outside the CPU, and allows us to change certain parameters inside the ecu.

OK, that meant nothing to me, what parameters are you talking about?
Here are the major benefits of the ROM TUNE:
1. eliminate fuel cut(s) (some MR2 ecu's actually have three fuel cuts)
2 eliminate speed cut (if applicable)
3. raise rev limiter
4. complete control of ignition timing table
5. unlocks factory "high boost" maps inside ECU
6. control of fuel table
7. more consistent behavior

Thats great, can you put a actual horsepower number on it?
YES. Multiple back to back dyno tests have shown gains of 17 horsepower and 16 lb feet of torque on BONE STOCK MR2's. Plus turbo spool was 200rpm sooner.

What about modified cars? We installed a CT27 turbocharger on the same car tested above and A/B testing with the stock ecu showed a 22hp gain and 20lb ft. of torque with the ATS ROM TUNE.

Are these generic tunes? NO, each tune is based your YOUR PERSONAL modifications.

What about larger injectors? ATS can tune higher horsepower cars with CT27, TD05 or TD06 turbochargers to use 550cc injectors. The cost for this is $100 additional.

What if I change my modifications, will I need a retune? Minor modifications like intake, ignition or exhaust will not require a retune, however modifications like turbochargers, camshafts should. The cost for retuning an ATS ROM TUNE is $150.

Do I have to send my ecu in advance? It helps, however we do have an exchange program available in limited numbers. We will need your ecu back IMMEDIATELY after you receive your ROM TUNE so that we can turn around to rom tune others.

OK, I'm in for sure, but what is the time frame of this group buy? This GB will be open for the month of May. The rom boards come from Japan, but usually take 1-2 weeks. We expect to have everyone taken care of by late June.

Not a problem. Tuning on the dyno is included if you are local, even at the GB price.

The 95 ECU carries a different part number than the 93 ecu, but I haven't found any actual performance differences. You could use a 93 ecu for a core if you wanted to, or we can modify your 95 ecu.

I just got back from my drive up to ATS today - thanks for the quick ROM tune install & dyno tune. I definitely noticed it on the way home passing people in 5th gear... I didn't even have to downshift into 4th!

Edit: Adding the dyno chart, blue is before the ATS ROM tune, red is after. Other mods are: Intake, Spearco IC, stock cat, KO 2.5" exhaust, CT20b, Blitz SBC i-D boost controller. Boost was about 12.7 psi on these runs.

Nice around 220 at the wheels, With a 2.5 inch exhaust, and cat thats preety good. Can't wait untile i get mine.
