Cat prints on my car!

Ok quick question. Some damn cat ran all over my 88 prelude while I was over my gf's place. I washed them off but there are tiny scratches from the damn thing's paws of course. It's black with a clear coat. Will a coat of wax do the job, cause you don't want to use rubbing compound on something with a clear coat correct? I don't know much about this stuff.

you sure can compound clearcoats!

you can try something like meguires scratchx by hand. if that doesnt work just take it into a detailer for a quick buff. black is incredibly hard to buff out, and not really the color you want to learn on.

wax will fill and conceal the scratches for a few weeks then they'll show back up time and time again. a good buff will perminantly remove the scratches.

no dont buff the **** out of it do it carefully, as little as possible to remove just the scratch. you can damage any paint, clear coat or not, with compound. if you screw up, black is going to show that you screwed up more than other colors. if you do it right and without going overboard you can buff anything.

compounds work by taking a small layer of paint or clear off the top to remove blemishes. with a decent paint job, you have more than enough clear to buff it a bunch of times, but the less you do it the better.

First day i brought the mr2 home, cat tries to jump up onto the front and soon finds out its steeper than it thought, while it slid off it left a nice couple of stratch marks across the tops of the headlight.

Damn pests

My .17 cal scoped rifle could fix the situation of that f*ckin cat. Leave the scratches in the paint to keep you pissed till you get that mother f*cker.

I think this cat should conveniently find a new home 20 miles away in another town...

My car is important enough to me to keep in a garage, under a car cover; free from any potential suburbias feline traffic.

Right. And if somebody shot my pet I'd be out looking for them, with a gun in MY hand.

Gonna have to agree with the last couple posts; I hate cats, but i'd never hurt em.

Also, I can say this with certainty: If someone shot my dog, I'd beat them to death.

ya, I hate cats, but wouldn't hurt one unless it was called for (say, if I had a kid and it came into MY yard and messed up my little kid, it'd be dead).

If anyone ever shot my dog (RIP ), I would do more than just shoot them...I think you'd see me on the news as some crazy insane messed up killer who tortured a guy for 6 months as he slowly died. I'm sick like that...

CAR COVERS PEOPLE!

Agreed, my car stays in the garage, under a cover also.

Sorry if I rubbed you feline lovers the wrong way. I hate 'em. I love my dog tho. I know she wont just jump up on my car on a wim either. Cats think everything is theirs.

I never suggested a violent solution. Some kids in a diff town would be delighted to get a new pet...

THIS would be a violent solution:

I actually like cats and agree with you all that car covers are a good solution, hence I have one. But sooner or later that thing's gonna be a real pain in the ass to clean outta your engine bay...
