rubber trim detailing

id like to know if there is a product that will clean up and moisturize (?) the rubber so it looks more wet. The rubber trim around my window and stuff looks really dried out.

i think i may try this too. now to find somethign to use on the dash other than armor all.

You can use the #40 on vinyl or rubber. Or try 303 which is also a great product: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/303-230330.html

I never use armor or any type of oil base shone or cleaner on my dash.. It makes your dash look wet but also attracts major dust....

The oil absorbed in your dash during the day will heat up and make your dash crack sooner or warp..

I just use a regular water damp cloth towel and wipe the dash down...

This is so very true. If you do not keep the stuff on there all the time it will warp and crack. I have found that once you have it nice a clean , use a California Car Duster on the dash to remove dust. I have had one for many years and it is money well spent.

Oh and another product you guys might want to try, especially those with leaky T-tops is Shin-Etsu Grease, Honda makes this. $11.89 for a 3.52 Ounce. From what I understand it's basically like the no longer available BMW GummiPflege.

You can still buy 1Z GummiPflege but BMW stopped selling it because they found it to hurt (silicone) the seals long term. Carbaflo is supposed to be MUCH better, but runs about $47 (not sure how much you get)

Try Parteze. It's a mold release spray that I was turned onto back in the day by folks who had leaky t-tops. It's supposed to revitalize the rubber (I can't tell, my weatherstripping is fairly new) and I use it everytime I detail the car. It's a little messy so your best bet is to spray a good amount on a cloth and wipe it on. I use it on the trim around the windows also. You can control how shiny it gets by adding more or less. Lasts a long time too. And only $8 a bottle IIRC.

Anything you can put on these to revitalize. mine are starting to fade, but is there a way to bring back to black instead of dull black without the oil mess?

yes, its called "back to black" from mothers....meguires also has stuff just called "trim detailer" that is very good

we used the 'back to black' at a dealership i washed for, works wonderfully when put on right...
