AutoX Class

who here does autox with a 20valve swap? i was wondering what classes you guys run, because i would think it would be an OSP thing, but since the 20valve is technically still a 4A-GE, i was wondering if you could get away with running the stock classes, or maybe the SP class?

Nope, you can't run a 20v in any of the stock classes.

I'm not even sure you could stretch that into SM

swapping a 20V in puts you into SM2 class. In SM2 you can swap any motor as long as it is from the same manufactuer of the car so if you were to swap in a 1uzfe in there you would still be in SM2 class. Now if you were to put a honda or a mazda motor in there you would be in a whole other class but right now you are in SM2.

In so many words yes. There are a few other difference but nothing that will get you in trouble if you do them or don't.

How does a 20V aw11 do in SM with just the 20V swap? I am going to have to look in to seeing how much suspention modification is allowed in that class.

On a national level it doesn't perform all that well. 1st place in SM2 at the solo nationals was a 3 rotor 3rd gen RX7 and 2nd was a 2 rotor 3rd gen. On a regional level I am sure you could compete with a few cars but against other two seaters that have a lot of power easily available and they can get a suspension setup as good if not better then an AW11 setup it makes it hard to compete. I was thinking of doing a 2zzge swap to give me a better chance at Nationals. However, I just started working at SCCAI am the Solo Technical Assistant) I will be working at the Solo Nationals and it will be a region and division runs for me so I am going to just stick with the 20V and have fun with it .

Street Mod (and SM2) is a pretty crazy fast class

this thread over on the OC might shed some light:
MR2 Owners Club Message Board&#8482

there is ALOT to going fast in SM/SM2 besides a simple engine swap...
