Anyone fit a 225x50r15 R compound in the front?
I have a set of 222 Kumho V710s and I'm wondering if I can run these all around. I believe the Hoosiers and other R compounds run wide just like these. If you have got some to fit, what size/offset wheels? Thanks.

some guys over on mr2oc have done it... offset/spacer required seemed to depend on your camber setting

I'm also thinking 8s would be too wide for the front. May have to stick to the 7". I found someone with 8s that I can try. We'll see. Just wanted to know if anyone had actually done it already to save me the headache of trying different things. Greg Last edited by mopwer; 04-16-2008 at 09:01 AM.. |

225/50-15 V710 Front Tires
I run this size on 6" front wheels for E Stock autocross with 10mm spacers and long wheel studs. Have also used 205s on the front and there are some trade-offs: I think the 205s are more precise and I can use -2.5 degrees or more camber. The 225s are limited to about -2 degrees camber or they rub on the strut housings, but they generate as much or more cornering force. The -2 degrees gives less tire wear on street tires going back and forth to events (most of my events are 70 to 130 miles from home).

-3' Camber
I don't think its too much for autocross, although I haven't actually driven at -3'. Without camber plates and with crash bolts I have had close to -2.75' and liked it better than the -2' setting.

I'm at -3.1* with crash bolts on mine, actually underprepared for ES (stock front bar).
the only time I get push is on street tires (sometimes) if I'm too abrupt with my turn-in. If you're patient and let the car gradually roll they're fine, but if you jerk the wheel at all they slide and don't roll to generate the grip no idea what it'll do with even so much as a bigger front swaybar though |

keep in mind ur changing the shape of the contact patch, not size or area. Popular misconception.

Well I finally got around to actually measuring the camber on my car. The front on the street setting it is -1.5* and only -2* on the track setting. Rear is 1.8-1.9* all the time. So it looks like I could add some crash bolts and bring the street setting in some more, maybe to -2*. Looks like I have a lot more toe out with the camber plates in the track position too. I can actually see it! Will this be ok on a big track or is it going to be twitchy?

I'd be wary of going too far with toe out, tire wear + overly abrupt turn-in FTL
