03.01.2009 El Toro, CA AutoX

Instead of putting this in SoCal, I thought I'd bump the AutoX section.

This is my 2nd Autocross ever and I suck, but oh well, I had lots of fun today. Got a good picture of me spinning out. My first 3 runs, I spun out in each of them, but what an awesome feeling it was. Messed around with my tire pressure before the X Runs and I didn't spin out once. I felt like I knew my car better, like when she'll step out or not. So that was pretty fulfilling. I had a better time even when my friend was riding along. Met a fellow 2 owner that's on mr2oc, DangMR2, sick white turbo with some nice Equips. Here's a vid and some pics. Sorry the video quality sucks. Enjoy.

Slowest: 112.xx sec
Fastest: 96.xx sec

WEE!!.. SKRR!!

If only I left it on my car haha.

For sure Ren! Just let me know when your ready to do some Suspension work and I'll give ya a hand.

Oh and umm Don't Hit Cones!

From a distance I thought that was a black garbage bag hanging from my friends door. What's funny is, he was like **** it and went through the whole course only to mow down all the cones. The courseworkers were yelling and screaming! The fender liner came off because of one cone. Good stuff.

Thanks Jeff! Yeah I think I understand why. My instructor told me that I wasn't braking in a straight line and that I lifted off the throttle. (I spun out twice in my first run!) During my X Runs though, I didn't spin out once! I just got lost for a second.

And geez, those tight U-turns, I was experiencing understeer. Not fun at all.

Hey Dennis, Yeah I need to get one too, most of the mr2 guys I see use the center storage box to keep their recorder in and mount their camera.

Actually, if you watch the segment again you'll see that the weight of the car was unsettled when you changed your pedal inputs. The MR2 can tolerate a pretty good amount of trail braking with a good setup but you can't do it while the weight is shifting from one side to the other.
